The program will be held at First Church of the Brethren, Carroll Avenue and 20th Street Northwest. It will begin with registration and refreshments at 10 a.m., followed at 10:30 by an observance of the 104th annual World Day of Prayer.
"On the Journey Together, The Story of Kenya" was written by an ecumenical women's group in that East African nation and will serve as the day's program.
Two Kenyan women, now studying at Virginia Tech, will participate in the program. Susan Ouko, from Kisumu, is a student in computer science. Susan Mugo, from Embu, is studying horticulture.
The program will focus on a Kenyan philosophy of peace, love and unity called "harambee."
There will be special prayers for the protection and guidance of the military in the Middle East, for a just resolution of that crisis, and for peace.
