BRYANT COMMITS TO CLINCH VALLEY

J.J. Kelly High School running and defensive back Jamie Bryant has become Clinch Valley College's first football commitment, coach Bill Ramseyer said.

Bryant, a 5-foot-8 180-pound athlete, has decided to stay in his home town to play college football. He was first team all-district, first team all-region and second team all-state as a high school senior.

The college's Highland Cavaliers play their first game Sept. 7 against the Tusculum College Pioneers at Carroll Dale Stadium in Wise, which also is Bryant's home field from high school. He was Kelly's third all-time leading scorer.

This will be the first year the college has had a football team. - Southwest Bureau
