CARLISLE'S MUTCH ALL-STATE INDEPENDENT

Carlisle's Justin Mutch, who averaged 17.2 points a game, is the only Roanoke area player to make the Virginia Independent All-State basketball team announced Thursday.

Mutch led the Chiefs to the quarterfinals of the Independent Schools state tournament.

Mark Meyer of Bishop O'Connell, which was the second-ranked team in the state, is the player of the year.
