MINDLESS ACTION IS NEVER WISE ACTION

I AM SADDENED and concerned by the tenor of the support for the war, especially in some commercial establishments.

It is not a matter of supporting the troops or approval or disapproval for the policy our government has chosen to follow. "Kick ass" suggests a brutish, crass mentality that shows no concern or compassion for humanity - only a mindless war fever. It's on a par with "Nuke 'em!" and "Burn, baby, burn!" Mindless action is never wise action, and wisdom is desperately needed at this time. MARIANNE R. MILLER ROANOKE
