INTERVIEW WITH FORMER MONKEE AMONG WEEK'S RADIO FEATURES

COMEDY: WVRU airs "What Ever Happened To . . ." Sunday, 5:30 p.m., which features TV, music and film stars as they look back on their lives. This week's program features former Monkee Mickey Dolenz, who'll discuss his crazy career with the Monkees and talk about what he's doing today.

And catch WVRU's "Hub City Spoke Repair," Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., which takes a satirical look at current affairs. This week's feature is "Weirdos, Thugs & Cellmates."

\ ROCK: WVRU's "Long Live Rock," Monday, 9 p.m., completes its feature on Neil Young, covering 1980 to the present.

On WVVV this week: "Reeling In the Years," Sunday, 9 a.m.-noon, includes John Anderson of YES and former ELO member Jeff Lynn of the Travelling Wilburys. "Album Feature," Sunday, 11 p.m., is "Maverick," by George Thorogood. "Rock Line," Monday, 11:30 p.m., has Todd Rungren. "Five At Five" Friday features the Pretenders.

\ LIVE: WPUV's Mountain Bill, with the Singing Scotts, will perform as part of a 10-group gospel sing to benefit the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Support Group of Wythe County. The concert will be held tonight and Sunday in the George Wythe High School Auditorium. Call WPUV for information at 980-7000.

\ DANCE: WUVT's "House Party" airs 9 till midnight tonight.

WPSK hosts the "Country Dance Party" at the Blacksburg Marriott each Sunday. Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m. and the party starts at 9.

\ INTERNATIONAL: WUVT's lineup today is classical music, 6-9 a.m.; Greek broadcasting, 9-11 a.m.; "The Persian Show," 11 a.m.; "The International Show" at 1 p.m.; Reggae, 3-6 p.m. and "Urban Blight," an eclectic mix of thrash, rap and reggae, plays 6-9. And Sunday, it's reggae, 3-6 p.m.

\ NEWS: WKEX's "Focus on the Family," twice weekdays, has "Letters that Reflect Our Times," Monday; "Mothers and Sons," Tuesday and Wednesday; and "Love Must Be Tough," Thursday and Friday.

WJJJ simulcasts the Business Radio Network this weekend. Today, 6-9 p.m., is "Omniverse." Sunday at noon is "Women's Business Exchange." Listen for other business programming throughout the weekend.

The "Blacksburg Town Report," Thursday, 6:05 p.m., features Blacksburg Town Manager Ron Secrist.

WVRU's "Talk of the Town," Wednesday, 8 p.m. and Friday, 1:30 p.m., features RU anthropology professor Melanie Wagner, who will discuss Christian schools.

\ NASCAR RACING: WJJJ carries the Goodrich 500 Sunday at noon from the North Carolina Motor Speedway.

\ BLUEGRASS: WFNR's "Bluegrass Talk Back Show" airs Thursday, 8 p.m. over FM.

\ COUNTRY: WPSK's "Star Trax" airs Sunday, 10 p.m. "Bob Kingsley's American Country Countdown" lists the Top 40 today, 8 a.m.-noon, and Sunday, 4-8 p.m. "Stories Behind the Songs" airs Sunday, 10 p.m.

\ CHILDREN: On WUVT Sunday: "Hickory Dickory Dock" airs kid stuff 9-11 a.m. and "Mashed Potatoe Radio" has stories, readings & music at 11 a.m.

\ BASKETBALL: WKEX, WRAD, WJJJ and WVVV air Memphis State at Virginia Tech today, 8 p.m.

The stations will also cover Tech in the Metro Tournament, which begins Thursday at the Roanoke Civic Center.

WRIQ airs Radford University in the Big South Conference today. Time will be announced.

\ GOSPEL: WPUV's "Hometown Gospel," today at sign-on till 9 a.m., features a live performance by Deliverance.

WFNR's "The Gospel Night Train" airs Sunday, 7 p.m. The "Glorious Gospel Highway Show" airs Sunday, 6 p.m.

WRAD's "Morning Worship," with the First Baptist Church, is at 11 a.m. Sunday and "In Touch" airs at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

WKEX airs the "Abundant Life Hour" with the Blacksburg Baptist Church on Sunday, 8:30 a.m. The "Morning Worship Service" at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church airs at 11 a.m.

WBLB carries the Top 40 hits in Southern Gospel music, today, 8-10 a.m. "Gospel Greats" airs today, 4-6 p.m.

\ JAZZ: WUVT plays it weekdays, 9-noon and Sundays, 6-9 a.m.

WVRU has it Fridays, 7 p.m.

WKEX simulcasts "Wax Works," 1-2 p.m. weekdays, which features big band, jazz and ballad greats.
