Mrs. Ella Chester Brooks Shropshire, age 91, died Thursday. She was the widow of Lynford Brooks and Ed Shropshire. She is survived by two daughters, Gladys Brooks Toler, Danville; Cindy Brooks Vines, Buchanan; four sons, Cloice W. Brooks, Indianapolis, Ind.; Monroe Brooks, Holland, Mich.; James Brooks, Buchanan; Ray Brooks, Valparaiso, Ind.; one sister, Lula Adams Doss, Emporia; one brother, Ernest Adams, Piedmont, S.C.; stepdaughter, Christine Bowman, Orlando, Fla.; stepson, Col. Lewis Shropshire, San Antonio, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 7 stepgrandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and very dear friends, Pearl and Ferman Bowman, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 3, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen R. Creech and the Rev. Leonard L. Southern officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make contributions may consider the Buchanan Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Buchanan.
