DECA STUDENTS HEADED FOR STATE CONFERENCE

Three Christiansburg High School DECA students will compete Friday through March 10 at the State Leadership Conference in Richmond after placing first in district competition.

Maggie Burton's category was general merchandise, master employee level. She placed second on a comprehensive test and first in personal selling and basic and social skills.

Melanie Haden competed in food marketing, supervisory level, placing first on the comprehensive test and basic and social skills and second in management.

Jenny Cassell competed in food marketing, master employee. She placed first on the test and in basic and social skills.

Burton works at Claire's Boutique in the New River Valley Mall. Haden and Cassell work for Wades in Christiansburg.

Other district-level competitors were Denise Hall, Brittany Dublin, Gaile Keister, Kristal Fulcher and Deidre Dalton.

Donations to help pay for the trip to the state competition may be mailed to the the club chapter at the high school, Independence Boulevard, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
