BLACKSBURG FIRM GETS FEDERAL RESEARCH GRANT

Biological Monitoring Inc. in Blacksburg, an environmental consulting firm specializing in water quality, was awarded a Small Business Innovative Research program grant of $50,000.

The National Science Foundation grant is for phase one of research on the firm's product, the Bio-Sensor, a trademarked water-quality monitoring system.

Bio-Sensor incorporates the use of fish and the latest in electronic and computer technologies to assess water quality continuously.

This is the fourth such grant the firm has received since its founding in 1980.
