MORTGAGE RATES MOVE UP AGAIN

Interest charges for new, fixed-rate, 30-year mortgages averaged 9.40 percent this week, up from 9.29 percent last week, according to a national survey released Friday by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. It was the second weekly increase.

On one-year, adjustable-rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 7.53 percent, down from 7.57 percent last week.
