PARKER, LONNIE H.

Lonnie Henry Parker, age 69, of Route 1, passed away Friday, March 1, 1991, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County March 28, 1921, a son of the late Preston Henry Parker and Judson Overstreet Parker. He was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie T. Parker. He was retired from Rubatex and was a member of Longwood Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Christine Wood Parker; two sons, Donald R. Parker, Troutville, and Michael G. Parker, Bedford; three daughters, Nancy Mitchell, Troy, Va.; Karen Waldron and Gwen Craig, both of Bedford; four brothers, Allen Parker and Buford Parker, Thaxton; Claude Parker, Bedford; Abner Parker, West Virginia; three sisters, Lura Agee, Bedford; Frances Amos and Myrtle Dooley, Thaxton; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 4, 1991, at 10:00 a.m. from Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Rick Via and the Rev. Rusty Craig with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and suggest that memorials be made to the Bedford Life Saving Crew or the American Lung Association.
