Elbert McKinley Jackson Sr., age 88 of the Fort Chiswell Community, died Saturday in the Wythe County Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens in Rural Retreat, Va. Mr. Jackson was born in Wythe County, Va., a son of the late Preston Hayes and Mamie Kane Jackson. He was a retired farm manager for E. G. Bowman, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Bralley Jackson and a son, William Edmund Jackson. He was a member of the Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis Smith, Sidney and James Bolash, both of Max Meadows; three sons and daughters-in-law, Malcolm H. and Patricia Jackson of Wytheville; Elbert M. Jr. and Becky Jackson, Sherman L. Jackson, both of Max Meadows; eleven grandchildren; one sister, Ethel J. Pack of Max Meadows. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday or at his residence at any time. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
