VIRGINIA WESTERN CAPTURES REGIONAL

Virginia Western Community College won the championship of the Southwest Regional Community College basketball tournament Saturday night with two victories at James Madison Junior High.

In the semifinal game, Virginia Western outgunned Patrick Henry Community College 111-82. Doug Hylton and Jim McNutt scored 19 each, and Nat Hash added 17.

In the championship game, the Blue Stars downed Southwest Virginia Community College 99-86. Hylton led Virginia Western with 17 and Hash had 16.
