FAYED, TWO COACHES RECEIVE RVD HONORS

Cave Spring's Mike Fayed is the Roanoke Valley District boys' basketball player of the year.

The Knights senior, headed to Winthrop on a scholarship, was Timesland's third-leading scorer with a 20.9 average and wound up second in free-throw percentage, making 109 of 127 (85.8 percent).

The coaches of the year are Patrick Henry's Woody Deans, whose team swept to the regular season title, and Cave Spring's Joe Davis, whose team finished 12-9.
