COUGARS' GARLAND TOP RVD GIRLS PLAYER

Pulaski County junior Terri Garland is the Roanoke Valley District girls' basketball player of the year after leading her team to the regular season championship.

Garland averaged 17.1 points and 4.7 assists per game.

Pulaski County's Rod Reedy is the coach of the year and he will guide his team to its second consecutive Northwestern Region tournament this week. The Cougars went 19-1 and won their first RVD championship in history.

Two other Cougars, Cindy Martin and Lena Jones, made the All-RVD team.

Completing the squad are Cave Spring's Lisa Hodges and Ali Colgrove, William Fleming's Regina Fields and Marqueeta Randolph, Franklin County's Lottie Huffman and Betsy Forbes and Patrick Henry's Kim Saunders. - Staff report
