BUFFALOES TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

Dale Marshall scored 19 despite fouling out in the final minutes in leading third-seeded Floyd County over Bland 61-52 in the championship of the Mountain Empire District tournament Saturday.

Bland, the State's third-ranked team, trailed 44-35 after three periods, but when Marshall fouled out, the Rockets cut the lead to five.

Travis Crawford, who finished with 14 for the Buffaloes, made six straight free throws to seal the win.

Bland (18-3) was paced by Patrick Smith's 19.
