DAMASCUS - Mr. James Sammuel Flannagan, age 74, died Monday, March 4, at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Va., a member of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ and the Damascus Senior Citizens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Flannagan and a son, Raymond Flannagan. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Hylton (Betty Ann) Coe, Ridgeway; Mrs. James (Ruth) Mink, Abingdon; Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Fritz, Damascus; Mrs. Douglas (Eloise) Snodgrass, Green Forest, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Audrey Flannagan, Ridgeway; four brothers, H. L. Flannagan and Dennis Flannagan, both of Salem; Robert Flannagan, Hudson, Ind.; Hobert Flannagan, Martinsville; three sisters, Elizabeth Daniels, Salem; Mabel Harris, Martinsville; Margaret Flannagan, Ridgeway; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Mr. Troy Hollingsworth and Mr. Wayne Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home. Farris Funeral Service of Abingdon is in charge of the arrangements.
