CHRISTIANSBURG STUDENT WINS AWARD FOR POEM

Timothy Nelson, 11, a fifth-grade student at Christiansburg Elementary School, received a third-place award in the December 1990 Cricket League international writing competition.

Participants wrote poems about ice. Timothy's poem, "Winter Magic," appears in the March issue of "Cricket," a children's magazine.

The magazine sponsors a different contest each month and receives about 800 entries for each one.
