FERRUM BASEBALL TEAM WINS, LOSES

Kevin Alger pitched seven shutout innings to lead Ferrum past Heidelberg 12-0 in the second of two games for the Panthers.

In the first game, Wabash squeaked past the Panthers 9-8.

Alger (1-0) had five strikeouts for Ferrum (2-1) and Gerald Smith capped off a good day going 2-for-3 with a double in the second game. Smith also smacked a homer against Wabash.
