N.C. TEEN CHARGED IN ROANOKE RAPE

An 18-year-old North Carolina man has been charged in the rape of a Roanoke woman who had a 9mm pistol held to her head.

Byron Lamont Brandon of Henderson, N.C., was charged with rape and use of a firearm.

Roanoke police gave this account:

The 18-year-old victim, who is from the Cove Road area of Roanoke, was visiting relatives about 2:30 a.m. Monday at a home on Cove Road when a man began to make sexual advances.

The woman told police she resisted, but the man pulled a semiautomatic pistol and placed the gun to her head.
