GENERAL FOODS STARTS PLANT IN WINCHESTER

General Foods USA has broken ground for a 135,000-square-foot food processing and packing facility in Winchester, the Virginia Department of Economic Development said Tuesday. The company said the facility will employ 200 workers when it opens in January 1992.

General Foods is a subsidiary of Philip Morris Cos. Inc.; the plant will be the corporation's first non-tobacco manufacturing facility in Virginia. - Staff report
