Participants in the non-profit, non-governmental program sponsored by New River Community Action pay $13 plus applicable sales tax and give two hours of community service. They receive 25 to 35 pounds of wholesome food valued at approximately $30.
The food consists of meat, vegetables, fruits and staples. Distribution is once a month and participants pay through a host organization. There are no income guidelines; those who pay with Food Stamps pay $13 but no sales tax.
The sign-up deadline for this month is March 11. Call 381-1185 for information.
