GUITARIST TO PLAY TONIGHT IN FLOYD

Equally at home on stage, in the studio and in the college classroom, Jim Scott is widely respected as an acoustic guitarist and composer of songs that further the ideals of ecology and justice.

Traveling in from the West Coast, Scott will perform Thursday at the Pine Tavern in Floyd at 9 p.m. He has performed around the U.S., Canada, England, Central America and Australia at a pace of over 150 concerts a year.

He also has created many songs, instrumental pieces and stories, as well as educational materials. He has written pieces for orchestra and soundtracks for dance, film and TV.

Scott mixes improvisational guitar music with songs varying from the humorous and romantic to comment on the state of the earth. For years he was known to many as the voice on the Paul Winter Consort's "Common Ground" and composed many of the group's works.

Scott's most recent recording was "The Oneness of Everything" in 1989. A commissioned choral work was released in 1990. Plans are under way for a staged production of his musical, "The Tree and Me."

Call the Pine Tavern at 745-4482 for information.
