SIX PEOPLE ARE INDICTED IN DRUG STING

A videotaped sting of alleged illegal drug transactions in Patrick County has netted six suspects facing 19 charges, Sheriff Jay E. Gregory said Tuesday.

State police and the Patrick County Sheriff's Department began the investigation in April 1990. Seventeen indictments against six people were returned Monday by a Patrick County Circuit Court grand jury. Two other charges were placed against one of the suspects at the time of his arrest.

Gregory declined to comment on where the suspects were videotaped. The drugs involved included methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine and LSD.

Arrested on drug distribution charges were Randall David Bowman, 21, of Stella in Patrick County; Anthony Ray Penn, 32; Timothy Wayne Dailey, 20, of Patrick Springs; and Gary C. Hooker, 19, of Lawsonville, N.C..

A juvenile, whose age Gregory would not release, was also charged with selling methamphetamine. Another suspect had not been arrested.
