Free dance lessons, spotlighted dances and lip-synching contests will be among the events planned for the 8 p.m.-to-midnight dance. A compact disc player will be offered as a door prize.
Tickets will be available in March from Wytheville merchants or at the door.
Cuts in grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and other agencies have made fund-raising more important than ever for the nine-day summer festival.
Other planned events to raise money for Chautauqua include the Virginia Opera Association performing Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutti" and the Miss Chautauqua Pageant in April, the annual Wine & Cheese Tasting and Patron's Party in May, and the Fun-in-the-Sun Beach Party in July.
