ROANOKER SHOT TWICE BY ASSAILANT

A 19-year-old man was shot twice Wednesday night as he answered the door of his Northwest Roanoke home, police said.

Mickey E. Clements of the 3300 block of Ferncliff Avenue was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds to his arm and back. His condition was not available today.

Police gave the following account: At about 6:50 p.m., Clements answered a knock on the door of his home, and a man asked him who he was.

After responding, Clements was shot in the right arm with a 9-mm handgun.

As he turned to close the door, Clements was shot a second time in the back.

Police said Clements had been involved in an altercation involving a woman earlier in the evening, but declined to say if that incident was possibly related to the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is continuing.
