TRUST, the Roanoke Valley Trouble Center Inc., is interviewing people interested in becoming volunteer counselors.
Volunteers are needed to staff the 24-hour telephone hot line, providing counseling on relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual assault and spouse abuse. TRUST also provides counseling and emergency shelter to clients who come to the TRUST house at 404 Elm Ave. S.W.
The next training session for volunteers will begin April 5. Classroom training is followed by on-the-job training with experienced volunteers. Volunteers work one six-hour shift per week after training.
There is a $20 fee to cover the cost of training materials. Also, there will be a limited number of spaces available for those interested in the training, but not volunteering. Training costs $75 for those not volunteering.
For further information, call 345-8859 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or 344-1948 evenings and weekends.
