BANE, MITTIE G.

Mittie Gillispie Bane, age 77, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 7, 1991. She was born July 20, 1913, in Bedford County and was the daughter of the late Florence Magan and Robert Jasper Gillispie. She was one of seventeen charter members of Lexington Baptist Church and was retired from Burlington Industries of Glasgow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John V. Bane. Surviving are three daughters and three sons-in-law, Bertha and Warren Jennings, Rustburg; Marie and Melvin Ferguson, Lexington; Elaine and Bob Mears, Buena Vista; two sisters and two brothers, Mildred Freeman, Estelle Tyree, and Joseph Gillispie of Lynchburg; Robert Gillispie of Martinsville; ten grandchildren, Troy, Neal, and Kimberly Jennings; Stephen and Jeffrey Ferguson; Monica Duke; Doug, Laura, David and Dana Mears; six great-grandchildren, Nicole, Rachel, Jennifer, and Rose Ferguson; Sarah Mears and Richard Duke; also a number of nieces and nephews; and one special little friend, Andrew Brown. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Leonard and the Rev. Harold Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
