BLUE RIDGE STONE BUYS W.VA. QUARRY

Blue Ridge Stone Corp. of Roanoke has bought a limestone quarry employing 25 people in Greenbrier County, W.Va., to be operated as Greenbrier Limestone Corp. The quarry, eight miles west of Lewisburg on U.S. 60, was purchased from Johnson Limestone Co. Blue Ridge Stone is a division of W.W. Boxley Co.

Company President Abney Boxley III said the quarry will enable the firm to expand its market into West Virginia and the Alleghany Highlands area of Virginia. The Boxley firm, started almost 100 years ago, operates seven quarries at Blue Ridge, Martinsville, Stuarts Draft, Emporia, and three Lynchburg area locations, as well as two distribution yards in Tidewater. - Staff report
