FLEMING PLAYERS GET GRANTS

All-Timesland defensive lineman Stan Pickard is one of four William Fleming players who have signed football grants-in-aid with Norfolk State University.

Alvin Macauley, a second-team All-Timesland pick at defensive back, also is among the group that includes fullback-defensive tackle Jerel Rhodes and tailback Sig Barber.

Pickard, a nose guard, was a first team All-Group AAA choice on the Coaches' All-State team while he was a second-team selection by The Associated Press.

Barber was the Roanoke Valley District offensive back of the year and fourth in Timesland rushing with 1,382 yards. Barber and Pickard were first-team choices on the All-Roanoke Valley District squad, and Macauley was a second-team selection. - Staff report
