CAVS BLAST VMI 16-5 IN BASEBALL

Virginia reached season highs in hits and runs Thursday, getting 18 hits in a 16-5 non-conference college baseball victory over VMI (0-4-1).

Todd Fiegel (1-0) got the victory for the Cavaliers (4-2-2). Leading the UVa hitters was Casey Hoch, who hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to give the Cavaliers an 8-3 lead.

For VMI (0-4-1), Glen Buck and Warren Williams each had a double. . -
