W&L'S HOLTON EARNS HONOR FOR ACADEMICS

Washington and Lee basketball standout Mike Holton was selected to the Academic All-America second team, the first W&L athlete to be selected to the national honors team three times.

The award, presented in the GTE/College Sports Information Directors of America college division, adds to the list of many accomplishments of Holton, a senior with a 3.86 grade-point average in business administration/accounting. He finished with 1,171 career points (14th on the Generals' all-time list), 371 assists and school records of 60 3-pointers in a season and 207 in a career. - Staff report
