POLICE CHIEF'S SECRETARY LEAVING AFTER 20 YEARS

After more than 20 years on the job, Doris Larson is retiring in June from her job as secretary to Pulaski Police Chief E.J. Williams.

Larson submitted her letter of resignation this week.

She had been a crosswalk guard in the town when she took the secretarial position on a part-time basis in 1966. She stayed with that job until 1969.

"I thought it would be fun to be a crosswalk guard. My daughter was in the first grade," Larson said.

Then the part-time secretarial job opened up and she accepted it.

When she returned to the police department in 1971, the secretary job had become a full-time job, and Larson has held it ever since.
