MOZART'S MASS IN C MINOR AT GREENE MEMORIAL SUNDAY

Wolfgang Mozart's Mass in C Minor will be presented Sunday at 4 p.m. in Greene Memorial United Methodist Church.

Richard Cummins, director of music at the church, will conduct the 21-piece orchestra and a chorus of 32 voices with seven soloists.

Soloists will be Gerry LoMascolo, Rita Cummins, Jean Rakes, Jayne Vest, Charlene Landes, Joe Gaskey and Robert Snead.

The presentation is a part of Greene Memorial's annual fine arts series. There is no charge for admission, though an offering is collected to help defray expenses of the series.

Mozart started writing the mass in 1782, reportedly in celebration of his marriage to Constanze Weber. For reasons that musicologists have not been able to finally determine, the mass was never completed. It is nonetheless regarded as one of the greatest of the composer's choral works.
