Mrs. Griffith, age 90, died Thursday night in Roman Eagle Memorial Home. She was born November 19, 1900, in Halifax County. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Hardy and Lilly Hazelwood Hardy. Before her marriage to the late Alonzo E. Griffith she taught school. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Averett College in Danville. She was a very active member at Cascade Baptist Church until her health did not permit her to continue. She is survived by two sons, Curtis L. Griffith of Wintergreen, Va.; Marvin H. Griffith of Southbury, Conn.; three daughters, Dorothy G. Franklin of Danville; Ruby G. Sentman of Tonawanda, N.Y.; Louise G. Alcorn of Blacksburg; three brothers, Cary L. Hardy of Hackensack, N.J.; Eldred Hardy of North Augusta, S.C.; Fred Hardy of Spartanburg, S.C.; two sisters, Lilly B. Allen of Lynchburg; Nell Stephens of Danville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; also great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. J. Haywood Alcorn and the Rev. Thomas E. Wright. Interment will be in the Cascade Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home, Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cascade Baptist Cemetery fund, Rt. 1, Box 15-B, Cascade, Va. 24069.
