Hill Goodman Bays, age 86, of Route 3, passed away Friday, March 8, 1991 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 13, 1904 in Bedford County, a son of the late James Oliver Bays and Laura Holdren Bays. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Goodman Bays. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Craghead Bays; two sons, James B. Bays, Donald L. Bays, both of Bedford; one daughter, Edrie Hill Bays, Salem; one sister, Laura Bowles, Roanoke; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 10, 1991 at 3:30 p.m. from the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, by the Rev. John Buck and the Rev. Alvin Ellis. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, and requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bedford & Moneta Lifesaving Crews.
