FRIES' ACTING MAYOR TAKES JOB FULL TIME

The town of Fries has a mayor for the first time in six months, and she is the first woman to serve in that position.

Carolyn Jones, who has been acting mayor since the resignation of William Warrick last August, finally agreed this week to accept the job. She was vice mayor when Warrick resigned.

The mayor is appointed by the council in this Grayson County town. Appointment of a council member to replace Jones will have to be made next month. Councilman Gary Sumner was named as the new vice mayor.
