PUT MORE CITY JOBS UP FOR POPULAR VOTE

WHY WOULD Robert F. Freis (letter, Feb. 28) find it refreshing that City Manager Herbert gives Police Chief Hooper support? As far as I'm concerned, too much back-slapping is done within the city system.

Perhaps some of these positions should be put on the "election block" so we the people could get some new, better, fresh ideas. Too many long-lived seats are being held. No one's realm should be indefinite!

Remove some directors and superintendents and chiefs and give those positions to the Indians, and things could be better for us all.
