ARMY MAJ. RONALD V. DOWNING has assumed command of the Yongsan District, Army Criminal Investigation Command, South Korea. He is the son of H. Jane Schuler of 3739 Southway Drive and Carroll A. Downing of Moneta. Downing graduated in 1973 from Lord Botetourt High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT TIMOTHY O. SEARLES, son of Elizabeth F. Holdren of Bedford, has completed training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School.

NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT MARK G. MINNIS, a 1990 graduate of Staunton River High School, has completed training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

\ MARK W. RAMSEY, son of Burley R. and Shirley R. Ramsey of Rocky Mount, has been appointed a sergeant in the Air Force. Ramsey, a communications-computer systems operator, is a 1979 graduate of Franklin County High School.

Ramsey has also been named airman of the quarter based on his exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement and other accomplishments.
