SCOTTISH ORCHESTRA IN CONCERT

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jukka-Pekka Saraste, will perform Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Washington and Lee University's Lenfest Center.

The concert will feature Mozart's Symphony No. 39 in E flat major, Stravinsky's "Dumbarton Oaks" Concerto in E flat, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 in D major.

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1974, has evolved from a national touring company into one of the world's most sought-after chamber orchestras. It has toured France, Switzerland, Italy, Israel, Germany, Japan, Finland, Belgium and the U.S.

The orchestra's 18-month tour of the U.S. will culminate in a performance at Carnegie Hall as part of the Carnegie Hall Centenary Celebration.

Tickets for Wednesday's concert are $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and non-W&L students. For reservations, call the Lenfest Box Office at 463-8000 weekdays between noon and 4 p.m.
