JMU'S ART AUCTION WEEKEND IS APRIL 6

Is Spring fever setting in already? Then now's the time to plan a first-of-spring getaway to the green mountains of Virginia - to the Homestead in Hot Springs and to James Madison University's annual art auction, set for April 6.

Tickets, at $150 each, include a black-tie reception and five-course dinner Saturday night following by the auction, lodging Saturday night at the five-star resort and a full breakfast Sunday morning.

Seventy six original pieces of art selected by jury and donated by artists from across the state will be auctioned, including watercolors, ceramics, jewelry, furniture, photographs, stained glass, oils, silk screens, acrylics, pastels, fiber art, stoneware, quilts and tapestry.

All profits from the event will go to JMU's Student Art Scholarship Fund, which awards students who demonstrate excellence in artistic work, academic studies or service to the arts.

Guests attending the auction will have use of The Homestead's recreational facilities and activities, including three PGA-rated golf courses, European health spa and indoor pool, horseback and carriage rides, trout fishing, skeet and trap shooting, bowling, tennis and hiking.

Accommodations for Friday night are available at special rates for guests wishing to make a full weekend of the event.
