Creative Writing Committee Chairman Dan Jones said the contest is open to all amateur writers in three categories - short story (up to 5,000 words), essay (up to 2,000 words) and poetry (up to 50 lines).
Students in grades 6-9, those in grades 10-12, and adults are judged separately from one another.
Entries must be postmarked by April 20. Guidelines are available by writing to Creative Writing Contest, Wytheville Chautauqua Festival, P.O. Box 876, Wytheville, Va. 24382.
Writers' Day during the 1991 festival will be June 21.
