BUSH DID WHAT HAD TO BE DONE

PEOPLE like Eva Loewy (letter, March 2) live in a naive fantasy world. We can't just exist without means of protection.

Our American service people become such, hopefully, because they believe in preserving the freedom of this country that Ms. Loewy is so ashamed to be a part of! Would she expect our police officers to comb our towns, cities and states without means of protection, simply because violence could erupt? The same concept applies to our country!

Maybe President Bush should have enlisted Ms. Loewy to make a diplomatic call to Saddam in order to resolve this conflict. People like her who call themselves Americans, yet feel nothing is worth fighting for, should simply move out of this "free" country! Stop complaining and be grateful to God that George Bush is a moral, upstanding, sensitive, compassionate, Christian president who has done what was necessary to ensure freedom.
