RURAL RETREAT - Ruth Wilcox Fisher, age 79, of Route 1, Cedar Springs Community, and widow of Gilbert Sullins Fisher, died early Sunday in the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Virginia Lee) Vaught and Mrs. Jesse (Kathryn) Overbay, both of Rural Retreat; Mrs. Harry (Frances) Kincer, Cripple Creek; one son, Donald R. Fisher, Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. Ray (Helen) Fisher, Rural Retreat; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday from the Asbury United Methodist Church in Cedar Springs with the Rev. Bob Billingsley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services. The family sincerely requests that memorials be made to the Asbury Cemetery Fund or the Rural Retreat Emergency Service. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home or at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Overbay, at any time. Lindsey Funeral Home, Rural Retreat, is in charge of arrangements.
