GARLAND, HODGES ON NW GIRLS' TEAM

Pulaski County's Terri Garland, the Roanoke Valley District player of the year, and Cave Spring junior center Lisa Hodges were named to the Group AAA Northwestern region girls' basketball team selected by the region's coaches.

Garland averaged 17.1 points a game in leading the Cougars to the RVD's regular-season title. Hodges averaged 13.3 points and 8.5 rebounds a game in leading the Knights to second place. Both juniors led their teams to this week's Group AAA state tournament at Williamsburg.
