TECH BEATEN 10-7 IN CALIFORNIA TOURNEY

Cal State-Northridge's Scott Sharts followed four strikeouts with a three-run home run in the eighth inning to lead the Matadors to a 10-7 win over Virginia Tech in the Pepsi/Me-N-Ed's Classic college baseball tournament at Fresno State University.

Tech plays 20th-ranked Creighton at 4 p.m. today as the eight-team, six-day tournament continues.

Tech (6-3) blew a 4-0 lead, built with the help of designated hitter Mike Reedy's RBI double, to the 22nd-ranked Matadors (16-7-1).
