Viola Frances Cocke Tyler, age 95, of Rt. 1 died Monday, March 11, 1991 in a Salem nursing home. She was born in Bedford County on January 19, 1896 the daughter of the late Jefferson Cocke and Margie Burnett Cocke. She was a member of Terrace View Baptist Church and was the widow of John Vernon Tyler. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John T. and Carol M. Tyler, Forest; one sister, Myrtle Almond, Lynchburg; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 14, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. at Terrace View Union Church with the Rev. David M. Schrock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorial may be made to Terrace View Church, Route 1, Forest, Va. 24551.
