Phyllis Loomis Strong died Saturday in Roanoke at the age of 91. Born in West Union, Iowa, she was the last known surviving child of A.B. and Leora Loomis. She attended the University of Iowa and received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of Chicago. She was the widow of the late Hon. James Alexander Strong, former Canadian ambassador to Peru and to Argentina. Until recently, Mrs. Strong resided at the Patrick Henry Hotel. A memorial service will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel on Friday, March 15, at 1:30 p.m. The Reverence Dr. J. Harris Stephens of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church will officiate.
