The Federal Trade Commission is investigating the PGA Tour in an apparent effort to determine if golfers are limited in their ability to earn money, The National sports daily reported.

According to the newspaper, Commissioner Deane Beman has sent a memo to 500 players on the regular, seniors and Ben Hogan tours. It cited four areas of interest - rules that require foreign players to play in 15 tournaments to retain their playing rights; rules that forbid the acceptance of appearance money; limits on appearances in events that conflict with tour tournaments; and PGA rules on the distribution of prize money.

Four-time winner A.J. Foyt, who has said he will retire from Indy car racing after the 1991 season, and Mary Fendrich Hulman, former Indianapolis Motor Speedway board chairman, will be the grand marshals of the annual Indy 500 Festival Parade.
