DMV SAYS FAKE LICENSES NOT MADE THERE

Making and selling false driver's licenses - a charge faced by a Department of Motor Vehicles employee - did not occur the office, spokeswoman Natalie Smith of DMV headquarters said Tuesday.

A 17-year-old Woodbridge High School student, who worked part time as a photographer at the Woodbridge DMV office, was charged in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court with manufacturing at least 35 fake driver's licenses, officials said. The licenses were sold for $20 to $90 apiece.

Although the fake licenses were not made on the job, Smith said the position probably would called for knowledge that helped operate the scam.

The teen-ager's name has not been released because of his age.

Police said all 35 people, between the ages of 16 and 20, who bought the fake licenses will be prosecuted.
