Some lake brokers say their own listing service would be better suited to their market than the service provided by the Roanoke Valley Board of Realtors.
"We just want to have our own identity," said Martha Scott, a broker with Lake Resort Realtors and chairwoman of the exploratory committee.
The committee is holding its fourth meeting Thursday at Scott's office at the Smith Mountain Lake Executive Center.
Derrick Plyler, broker with Town & Lake Realtors, said there is no consensus on whether to proceed with a lake listing service or stay with the Roanoke Valley board. "I'd say there's a 50-50 split," he said.
Plyler said many lake agencies probably would continue to belong to the Roanoke Valley board even if a separate lake board were formed.
